The other day in the classroom, there were a few boys sitting around with the legos. Inevitably, there were two boys who decided that they needed to make...say it with me...guns.
(side note: we have a philosophy at our centers to not prohibit them rather than teaching them they are "bad", we teach them about the dangers of them. Many of our children have parents who are military or police officers and they see them wearing guns; guns aren't bad. What people DO with guns CAN be bad; okay, that little rant is over)
So, these two boys are making their guns and one boy turns a shoots at another person (a HUGE no-no and they know this). The second boy turns to him and says, "No guns."
The first boy turns and looks down at the second boys hands, which are holding his own gun, and says, "Then don't have a gun."
Yep, he called him out on it.
